The Integrated Sky Monitor is the only instrument providing complete characterization of optical atmospheric conditions exceeding the recommendations issued by the CCSDS, on real-time weather and atmospheric characterization data.
Integrated Sky Monitor
Compact Differential Image Motion Monitor
The ISM compact, rugged, carrier grade package and provides 24/7/365 measurements using an array of passive sensors including:
The ISM uses an Intel iCore system running Linux. The C++ software is partially open source and allows for additional custom processing. The small form factor and low energy and low bandwidth requirement makes it easy to deploy in the field.

All Sky Cloud Cover Imager
The All-Sky cloud cover imager ensures accurate and reliable cloud detection day and night providing complete cloud cover mapping 24/7/365. It is the perfect add-on to the ISM.
The radiometrically calibrated 640x480 LWIR sensor at the heart of the all-sky cloud cover imager is offer a wide temperature range from -40°C to +120°C with an accuracy better than ±2K or ±2.0% ensuring the best possible performance in detection and sorting of clouds.
The gold coated mirror offers a full 360° field of view with the best possible image quality with an optical design compatible with other types of sensors offering higher resolutions up to 1024x768, or different wavelength and temperature ranges like SWIR, 0.9µm to 1.7µm.

Alt/Az tracking mount for C-DIMM
The Alt/Az tracking mount is the ideal companion to the C-DIMM for locations where Polaris is not always visible, typically below 20°N latitude. Any other star of equivalent magnitude can be used as a reference to provide accurate seeing measurements regardless of the location.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the tracking mount and C-DIMM allow complete sky survey by measuring seeing in different directions, more reliable data collection by avoiding partial cloud cover or by using a star closer to the field of observation than Polaris.
Thanks to its waterproof design and absolute encoders, the Alt/As tracking mount allows the ISM and C-DIMM to provide true robotic DIMM operation and performance without maintenance.

In order to help our customer select the best locations for free space optical communications, space situational awareness and astronomy, we are offering in partnership with the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation of Durham University a service providing advanced atmospheric turbulence modelling.
This service builds on the world leading research on atmospheric modelling from the Optical Turbulence group of the CAI and on the data already collected by Miratlas’ existing network of instruments.
The survey provides the following parameters by night and by day with monthly variation:
Clouds Cover | % |
---|---|
Turbulence | Cn2, median integrated (m1/3) |
Seeing (ArcSec) | |
Fried parameter r0 (m) | |
Isoplanatic angle (ArcSec) | |

Rytov Variance (scintillation) | |
Meteorological | Ext Temp (°C) |
Pressure (hPa) | |
Humidity (%) | |
Wind (m/s) |
GPS coordinates: latitude, longitude, altitude
Main locations of Sky Monitors with the Median Fractional Cloud Cover as an overlayed layer.
To make cloud & turbulence measurement as accessible as possible. We also provide the Integrated Sky Monitor data as a service thanks to our network of instruments which is building thanks to the community of our customers who have agreed to pool their resources together as well as our own locations.
